If you're like me you have about four different packages of quinoa, Bulgar wheat, and brown rice sitting in your pantry with not enough in any bag to make a meal. My regular readers will tell you, I hate throwing good food out. What a terrible waste! With a little ingenuity we can take good left-over ingredients, and by putting them together...kick them up to awesome!
This delicious medley pairs perfectly with just about any main dish. Below is my favorite combo.
Feel free to mix and match based on what's in your pantry.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup of brown rice
1/4 cup Bulgar wheat
1/8 cup of red quinoa
1/8 cup of wild rice
1 1/2 cups of water
Directions:
Bring your water to boil in a medium saucepan, add the rice medley and simmer for about 20 minutes. Set aside and let stand for another 5 minutes.
Look at you! You just DIY'd an elegant side dish in no time flat.
